Ridgetown Man Bites CK Police Officer

A Ridgetown man is getting a taste of the local legal system after he allegedly bit a police officer who was arresting him.

Chatham-Kent police say they got involved after the man was allegedly seen visiting a residence in Ridgetown on Tuesday that he had previously been ordered to stay away from.

Officers say while the accused was being arrested, he allegedly grabbed a woman by her hair and wouldn't let go, so police pepper sprayed him.

After that, the man allegedly bit the officer who was arresting him so hard that it broke the skin. The officer who was bitten was later treated for the injury at a local hospital and then released.

Police say the accused was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
