Charge Upgraded In Leamington Assault

A 44-year-old man is now facing an attempted murder charge in connection with an assault in Leamington.

The Ontario Provincial Police say that the man, first accused of aggravated assault, is now charged with attempted murder as well.

The charge was added Friday, according to Constable Jim Root.

OPP and Essex-Windsor EMS responded to a home on Wigle St. in Leamington last Friday to find a woman suffering serious injuries.

The suspect, identified by the OPP as Robert Chad Hearns of Leamington, was arrested shortly after the incident. He also faces a breach of probation charge.

The 36-year-old victim remains in hospital with life threatening injuries.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
