$25K Worth Of Tools Stolen

Chatham-Kent police are trying to track down about $25,000 worth of tools that were stolen from a workshop in Morpeth sometime over the long weekend.

Police say someone forced their way into the workshop on McKinlay Rd. sometime between 1pm on June 30 and 10:30pm on July 2 and took off with the following items:

- Miller MIG welder (blue)

- JMar 5hp air compressor (red and white)

- Coleman generator (black)

- Emglo 5hp portable air compressor (blue)

- Stihl pole saw (orange and white)

- Stihl cement saw (orange and white)

- Stihl chainsaw (orange and white)

- DeWalt 18v drill (yellow and black)

Man Found With Bolt Cutter, Flashlight, Pry Bar

A 27-year-old Chatham man is in trouble with police after officers allegedly found him with a stolen bicycle and some break-in tools early Tuesday morning.

Police say they found him on Sandys St. at around 4am after getting a call about a suspicious man in the area of Sandys and McNaughton Ave.

When officers searched him, they allegedly found a socket set, a circular saw, some bolt cutters, an adjustable wrench, a box cutter, a flashlight, and a pry bar.

Police say the accused was charged with possession of stolen property and possession of break-in tools and released with conditions and a future court date.

Teens Charged With Theft

Police say they have charged two teens and are looking for a third suspect in connection with a shoplifting complaint at Walmart in Chatham.

Officers say two of the three accused ran out of the store Monday afternoon after allegedly stealing about $60 worth of various items.

Police say they found one of the teens in a field behind Staples, one stayed with a security officer at Walmart, and they're still looking for a third male youth in connection with the case.

A 14-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy -- both from Chatham -- are now charged with theft and possession of stolen property.

They have been released to their parents with a future court date.

Break And Enter Charge

Chatham-Kent police say a 36-year-old Moraviantown man is charged with break and enter after officers found him in a secure lot on Thames St. in Chatham on the holiday Monday.

Officers say they found him behind a trailer in the lot at around 7:30pm Monday, adding that he had "no lawful reason for being inside this work area."

He was charged and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
