Bail hearing set For Chatham doctor

A bail hearing for a Chatham doctor facing several assault charges has been set for next week.

A publication ban is in place so the name of the man can't be released at this time. The doctor's case will return to court on September 5.  He appeared via an audio link in a Chatham courtroom Monday morning.

He was charged with ten counts of uttering death threats, seven counts of assault, assault causing bodily harm, and assault with a weapon. The offences allegedly took place between October and November of 2001 and between February and June of this year.

The doctor will be held in custody until the hearing. He has not been suspended by The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
