Arrest Made After Sunday Stabbing In Chatham

Chatham-Kent police say a 64-year-old man has been arrested after a stabbing in Chatham.

Officers say a 46-year-old man was sitting in his vehicle with his window down at an address on Grand Ave. E in Chatham at around 9pm on Sunday when a man approached him, pulled out a knife, and stabbed him in the chest/neck area.

Police say the man who was stabbed was providing transportation for someone at the time. The victim was rushed to the hospital after the attack and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Officers were later able to identify a suspect and arrested him on Monday in connection with the case.

A 64-year-old man is now charged with aggravated assault and is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

His name has not been released.
