Charges laid, stolen vehicle recovered in Pain Court

A 29-year-old man is facing a few charges after he allegedly ran towards an officer with a metal bat.

Chatham-Kent police said the man was under several conditions related to a previous incident. One of his conditions was to obey a curfew, which ran between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. During a check-in Tuesday night, an officer was stationed near the man's home in Pain Court.

The man allegedly ran towards the officer with a metal bat, but then doubled back towards his home once the officer stepped out of the vehicle. Police said the male suspect was then arrested.

However, while officers were still in the area they were notified about a suspicious woman. Police later found out that the man, along with a 28-year-old woman, had kept a stolen vehicle in the area.

Both the man and woman are charged with possession of property obtained by a crime over $5,000. The male suspect is also charged with failing to comply with his curfew and being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
