UPDATE: Power outages and flooding concerns along Lake Erie

Power has since been restored in the Wheatley-area following an outage.

The outage there was caused by "extreme weather conditions," while a brief outage in Chatham Monday morning was reportedly caused by "a blown arrestor." A separate outage in Rondeau also appears to have been resolved.

The outages also prompted local EMS staff to caution drivers.

A flood watch is also in effect for Chatham-Kent residents living along the Lake Erie shoreline.

That includes Erie Shore Drive, Rondeau Bay, Rose Beach Line, and Wheatley.

High winds have prompted a Gale Warning from Environment Canada and are expected to create waves that could reach three metres in height.

Officials with the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority said those waves could cause some localized flooding and possibly some erosion as they come crashing onto the shoreline.
