Terry Fox Run set for Sunday

Thousands of Canadians will hit the streets on Sunday to honour Terry Fox.

The annual Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research is happening in a number of Chatham-Kent communities, but the biggest event is in Dresden.

Organizer Cindy Brewer says the community just really gets behind the run.

"They come up with their own incentives and they set their own goals. We have every service club is part of it, just so much support from all the way around that it's just a community event."

Last year 350 people helped raise $34,000, making Dresden #1 in Ontario for money raised per capita.

Other runs taking place in Chatham-Kent include:

Blenheim: 10 am start time at Blenheim Memorial Park/Arena.

Chatham: 10 am start time, at the Field House Patio on Courthouse Lane near the mini soccer fields and the Children's Treatment Centre.

Dresden: Open start time from 10am-1pm at the Dresden Legion at 113, St George St.

Ridgetown: 10am start time at the Ridgetown Legion Branch 243 - 75 Main St.

Tilbury: Open start time from 12-3 pm at the Tilbury Arena.

Wallaceburg: 10 am start time at Civic Square Park on James St.
