A 24-year-old Chatham man has been charged for allegedly taking marijuana on a boat.

Chatham-Kent OPP issued a media release Monday afternoon stating that officers held an inspection just ahead of the weekend. Officers stopped the man on Friday morning around 10:15 a.m. on the Thames River near Lake St Clair.

It's alleged the officer spotted marijuana inside the vessel while speaking with the operator.

Police said the 24-year-old was charged with possession of a controlled substance. The accused has a court date set November 22.
