Plenty of first responders will be on site again Wednesday for day two of the International Plowing Match in Pain Court.
They will be especially keeping an eye out for anyone who may be overheating in the hot summer sun.
Matthew Gaudette with Chatham-Kent EMS said those type of calls kept their crews busy on Opening Day.
"Together, we assessed nine patients -- six of which were heat-related issues that we dealt with," said Gaudette. "Because of the call volume yesterday, we have certainly upped staff and additional crew to be well-prepared for those number of patients who could call 911."
Gaudette said EMS staff at last year's plowing match in Huron County responded to about 100 calls throughout the course of the week and they are expecting to see similar numbers this year.
He suggested that anyone who feels like they are overheating should get into the tents to find some shade.
"If there are any issues whatsoever, reach out to any International Plowing Match team member and they will get a hold of us," said Gaudette. "You can also certainly call 911."
The temperature Wednesday should help people stay a bit cooler, too.
Environment Canada is calling for a high feeling like 29 C -- noticeably lower than Tuesday's high, which was closer to 36 C with the humidex.
