Alleged drunk driver caught on Highway 401

A 56-year-old Windsor man is facing several charges for allegedly driving drunk on Highway 401.

In a media release issued Thursday, Chatham-Kent OPP said a vehicle was pulled over on Highway 401 near Victoria Road on Wednesday around 11:15 p.m. The officer suspected the driver of having consumed alcohol so further tests were done at an OPP detachment.

Amjad Al-Chikh has been charged with driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood, driving while ability impaired, driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor, driving a motor vehicle with no validation on the plate, and driving a motor vehicle while failing to display two plates.

The charges have not been proven in court. The accused has a court date set for October 10.
