IPM continues despite rain and mud

The show must go on at the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo in Pain Court.

Despite a deluge of rain that forced the site to close Thursday afternoon, the gates opened on time Friday morning.

IPM co-chair Leon LeClair said one change they made, was moving the parking to a different field.

"The yard yesterday got a little bit worked up so we're moving to another parking area," said LeClair. "Whatever is well-travelled is slippery, but we are putting down wood chips, so the paths will be safe."

Before the gates closed on Thursday, attendees attempted to set a world record for the most people bobbing for apples at one time, but that also had a bit of a hiccup.

"The adjudicator needed everybody to high five him on the way out to confirm the numbers," said LeClair. "Well, kids -- I consider them cats -- trying to herd cats, they were gone... we believe we broke the record, however, we'll see what the official, the Guinness guy, says."

Organizers will be keeping an eye on the sky today as a severe thunderstorm watch is in effect, and winds up to 100 kilometres per hour.
