'Unforeseen structure damage' delays work on overpass

The Charing Cross Road overpass above the Highway 401 is expected to be closed well into October now.

A release from the Municipality of Chatham-Kent said officials with the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) have given notice that the re-opening has been delayed because of "unforeseen structure damage found during the reconstruction work."

As a result, Charing Cross Road will continue to be closed between Doyle Line and Eighth Line until October 26, 2018.

That section of the road was previously scheduled to re-open on October 1, 2018.

A detour will remain in place, directing traffic from Middle Line (CK #8) – Drury Line – Communication Road (CK #11/CK #40) – Park Avenue East (CK #18).
