Bill Cosby going to prison

Bill Cosby has been sentenced to three to 10 years in state prison for the sexual assault of Andrea Constand.

NBC News reports Cosby was sentenced Tuesday after being convicted in April of the assault on Constand, who had told the court she was drugged and sexually assaulted by Cosby in 2004.

Constand's accusation was one of many against Cosby, who was handed the nickname "America's Dad" for his role of Dr. Cliff Huxtable on The Cosby Show. Despite his denials, he was called a "sexually violent predator" by the judge in the case. Given a chance to address the court after his sentencing, Cosby declined.

He was later led out of the court in handcuffs to begin serving his sentence immediately.
