The race to replace longtime Conservative MP Bev Shipley is up to at least seven candidates now.
Shipley <a href="https://blackburnnews.com/chatham/chatham-news/2018/07/08/shipley-will-not-run-re-election/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced in July that he would not be seeking re-election</a> in the riding of Lambton-Kent-Middlesex.
Since then, a handful of candidates have put their names forward to replace him as the Conservative Party of Canada's representative in the 2019 federal election.
Wallaceburg media personality and business-owner Greg Hetherington is the latest hopeful to announce an intention to run for the spot.
He's joining Peter Aarssen, <a href="https://blackburnnews.com/sarnia/sarnia-news/2018/09/14/prominent-strathroy-businessman-seeks-conservative-nomination/">Peter Cuddy</a>, Mattheu Kok, Bruce Lamb, Kevin Mitchell, and Lianne Rood, who have also publicly indicated that they are running for the position.
