Police identify driver killed in 401 crash

Provincial police have identified a 35-year-old Ajax man as the person killed in a crash involving a tractor trailer on Highway 401 in Elgin County.

Benjamin Allen was killed when his vehicle collided with a transport truck in the eastbound lanes of the highway, east of West Lorne around 7:30 a.m. on Saturday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Traffic was rerouted off the highway as the eastbound lanes were closed at Graham Road for about five hours.

Elgin OPP said the cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
