High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

There is some good news for drivers who want to take Charing Cross Road across the Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.
That overpass is open again for the first time <a href="https://blackburnnews.com/chatham/chatham-news/2018/06/27/overpass-close-three-months/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">since the beginning of July 2018</a>.
Economic Development officials in Chatham-Kent tweeted that out Monday morning and officials with the Ministry of Transportation confirmed the news.

The overpass was originally supposed to re-open at the beginning of October, but that was pushed back because of "<a href="https://blackburnnews.com/chatham/chatham-news/2018/09/21/unforeseen-structure-damage-delays-work-overpass/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">unforeseen structure damage</a> found during the reconstruction work."
The work is a part of a larger ongoing construction project on the Highway 401, which also includes the installation of high-tension cable barriers from Tilbury to Ridgetown.
