Charing Cross Road overpass re-opens to drivers

There is some good news for drivers who want to take Charing Cross Road across the Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.

That overpass is open again for the first time since the beginning of July 2018.

Economic Development officials in Chatham-Kent tweeted that out Monday morning and officials with the Ministry of Transportation confirmed the news.

The overpass was originally supposed to re-open at the beginning of October, but that was pushed back because of "unforeseen structure damage found during the reconstruction work."

The work is a part of a larger ongoing construction project on the Highway 401, which also includes the installation of high-tension cable barriers from Tilbury to Ridgetown.
