Coke bust at the Blue Water Bridge

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers (CBP) have made a cocaine bust and arrested a Canadian at the Blue Water Bridge.

CBP said border officers allegedly found a Canadian citizen with more than 280 pounds of cocaine on the Port Huron side of the bridge on Sunday. They were conducting routine outbound inspections on the bridge and selected a commercial truck shipment of berries headed to Canada for examination. CBP reported that approximately four boxes containing plastic-wrapped packages of suspected cocaine were found.

“This arrest demonstrates the continued effort by our officers, their dedication to our border security mission and the focus on the export of illicit narcotics,” said Port Director Michael Fox.

The Canadian suspect has been turned over to Homeland Security and made their first federal court appearance on Monday.
