Man accused of stealing alcohol arrested at Walmart

Chatham-Kent police have made an arrest after someone stole seven bottles of vodka from two different LCBO stores in Chatham.

Police said they got the first call on October 16 after five 750 millilitre bottles of vodka worth about $76 each were stolen from the LCBO on St. Clair Street. Officers said the LCBO on Wellington Street was targeted by the same person on October 28 -- in that case, the accused made off with two 60 ounce bottles valued at around $114 each.

Police said they were able to identify a suspect and confirmed that the same man was responsible for both of those thefts. Investigators said he was arrested while officers were responding to a shoplifting complaint at the Walmart in Chatham at around 6 p.m. Wednesday.

A 20-year-old Chatham man is now facing theft-related charged in connection with all three incidents and has been released with conditions and a future court date.
