UPDATE: EB Hwy. 401 reopens after tractor-trailer fire (VIDEO)

A tractor-trailer fire shut down a section of eastbound Highway 401 in Essex County, but the highway is open again now.

Ontario Provincial Police say the incident began around 6 p.m Thursday, on the highway near French Line Rd. in Lakeshore. Constable Jim Root said a tractor-trailer carrying a load of fruit caught fire, resulting in a complete shutdown of the eastbound lanes at Belle River Rd.

There have been no reports of any injuries, but OPP and fire services were on the scene.
