Teen charged with driving on drugs on 401

A youth was caught driving on Highway 401 while allegedly high.

Chatham-Kent OPP said they stopped a vehicle near Queens Line Monday evening around 7:30 p.m.

Officers said their investigation determined the 17-year-old driver of the vehicle was under the influence of drugs. As a result, the teenage male from Windsor was charged with driving while impaired, driving while under suspension and driving without proper rear light.

Police said he will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham on December 10.

His driver's licence was suspended and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The OPP reminded the public officers are actively monitoring the "Big 4" driving behaviours of impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving and seatbelt usage.
