Chatham company recognized by NHL

A Chatham-based company is celebrating after being named "A Preferred Equipment Supplier" to the NHL.

Les Herman, manager of finance and administration at Blademaster -- a division of Guspro Inc., said they are thrilled with the news.

"We've been supplying the NHL, along with the top international hockey federations for years," he said. "To go one step above this, we're now allowed to use their [NHL] logo in our advertising."

In terms of whether this will help boost sales, Herman said they're already pretty well known around the world.

"Right now we're the dominant ice skating equipment supplier to the world really," said Herman. "We shipped to 53 countries last year ... We probably [have] 80 per cent of the world market."

Herman said although the company does have distributors in other countries, all of the equipment is manufactured and shipped out from Chatham.

"We're very proud of all the employees and everybody associated with Guspro, our suppliers as well," he said.
