Worker killed at Leamington greenhouse

A greenhouse employee has died following an incident Monday.

It happened around 9:30 a.m. at the Great Lakes Greenhouse on Mersea Road 4 in Leamington. Few details have been released but Ontario Ministry of Labour spokesperson Janet Deline has told BlackburnNewsWindsor.com that the worker was electrocuted while working on an electrical panel. Essex-Windsor EMS and the Leamington Fire Department also responded to the scene.

The Ontario Provincial Police said the 29-year-old man died of his injuries. His identity has not been disclosed while loved ones are being notified.

Deline said that the ministry has sent an investigator to the scene who has taken over determining how the incident happened.
