Goodfellows' Porchlight Fundraiser totals are up this year

The Chatham Goodfellows are sending out a big thank you to the community after another successful Porchlight Campaign fundraiser.

This year, they managed to raise $44,500, which is up about $3,000 from last year's event.

In addition to the cash donations, more than 500 volunteers collected enough non-perishable food to fill over 90 banana boxes and enough new toys to fill 70 banana boxes for their effort to make sure there is "No Child Without a Christmas".

The next item on the agenda for the Goodfellows is toy packing, which will take place on December 10-13 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 463 St. Clair Street in Chatham (the former Fabricland building). Those toys will then be delivered on Monday, December 17.

Following that, food packing and delivery for the Christmas baskets will take place on Tuesday, December 18 at the Spirit and Life Centre (St. Joseph Site). The packing starts at 8 a.m. and the deliveries will start at 11:30 a.m.
