Break and enter in Chatham
One man is in custody and another is still at large after a break and enter in Chatham Monday afternoon.
Police said they were called by a concerned citizen regarding two suspicious men around Canterbury Street. Officers said both men fled as they approached the area, dropping a backpack containing jewellery, cash, screwdrivers, a crowbar, pipe wrench, chisel, flashlight, and empty garbage bags.
The police K9 Unit was called in and tracked down a 28-year-old man hiding in some bushes on Semenyn Avenue.
Officers said he was arrested and charged with break and enter, theft, being in possession of property obtained by crime, and possession of break-in tools.
Officers continue their investigation to identify the second man involved.
Man Arrested on Outstanding Warrant
A Chatham-Kent man is facing a slew of charges after being arrested by St. Thomas police Monday night.Police said his offences include dangerous driving, flight from police, driving while disqualified, driving while suspended, being in possession of a stolen John Deere Gator, being in possession of stolen mail and credit cards, failing to comply with his release conditions, uttering threats, and failing to attend court.
Officers added he has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Youth Charged with Uttering Threats
A Chatham student has been arrested for allegedly threatening his ex-girlfriend at school.Police said the threats have been happening for weeks, but officers arrested the youth Monday and charged the 15-year-old with uttering threats. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
