Suspects still at large after kidnapping and robbery in Chatham

A Leamington man escaped a kidnapping and armed robbery with no physical injuries last week in Chatham.

Police responded to a single-vehicle collision on Park Avenue West near Bloomfield Road around 1:30 a.m. on Monday, December 3.

Officers said they discovered the driver of the vehicle had been kidnapped and forced to drive the car after an altercation at a residence in Chatham. Police added the driver's wallet and cell phone were taken by a man after the crash and the alleged kidnapper was picked up by three people following behind in a car.

Police said all four people responsible have been identified, but only two have been taken into custody. A 24-year-old woman and 30-year-old man, both of Chatham, were arrested and charged with robbery and kidnapping. They were transported to the Chatham courthouse pending a bail hearing.

Police continue to look for the other man and woman involved.
