CK embraces Hometown Hockey event

Rogers Hometown Hockey has taken over Chatham-Kent and three local hockey organizations received a nice boost Saturday afternoon.

Kent Minor Hockey Association, the new local girls' minor hockey association and Wallaceburg Minor Hockey received $5,000 each at a ceremony on stage.

Thousands of people showed up for the event in downtown Chatham, which kicked off in Dresden Friday night at the Kings hockey game.

Hundreds lined up to touch Lord Stanley's Cup and afterwards some local minor hockey teams played a few games on the makeshift hockey rink on Wellington Street.

Over in Dresden there was a special unveiling ceremony at noon to commemorate the official re-naming of the Ken Houston Memorial Agricultural Centre.
