Rodney man allegedly hits ex-girlfriend with his car

Chatham-Kent police have arrested a 41-year-old Rodney man after a verbal argument in Ridgetown took a violent turn.

Police said the man was arguing with his ex-girlfriend at an apartment Thursday morning and as the man left, the woman followed him outside in order to return some of his property to him.

Investigators said while the woman was still in the parking lot and walking away from the man, he allegedly hit her with his car and then took off.

The woman who was hit was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police arrested a suspect Thursday night in connection with the investigation and charged him with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and assault with a weapon.

The accused was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
