CO detected at Leamington church

At least one person has been sickened after carbon monoxide was detected at a Leamington church.

Ontario Provincial Police say it happened at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Erie St. N. Essex-Windsor EMS, police and Leamington Fire Services were called to the location around 2 p.m. Saturday.

Crews confirmed the presence of carbon monoxide in the building. OPP Constable Jim Root says one man was complaining of chest pains.

The Ontario Ministry of Labour has been notified. Authorities suggest that anyone who was at the church Saturday afternoon be checked by a doctor.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
