It appears the worst of the recent ice storm has passed, however, snow plows are still out ahead of the added precipitation that is on the way.
Director of Public Works Ryan Brown said crews have been out since Monday afternoon conducting "anti-icing operations."
"Conditions are drastically improving but obviously with more precipitation in the forecast, drivers need to remain vigilant that there could be some slippery roads out there," he said.
Forecasters with Environment Canada are calling for the freezing rain to change to rain Tuesday afternoon. There may be blowing snow Tuesday night and Wednesday morning as a couple of centimetres of snowfall is expected overnight with wind gusting up to 60 kilometres per hour.
Unlike the recent cold warning in January, road salt is working to its full potential as temperatures hover around the freezing mark.
"The salt is really effective in making the highways wet and getting rid of the ice," said Brown. "The challenge today is going to be how much precipitation we receive and in what form."
At this point, the municipality is not requesting that people avoid parking on the street Tuesday night.
