A man accused of using a counterfeit bill is also facing charges for allegedly assaulting a police officer.
Chatham-Kent police said the man allegedly used a fake $20 bill to pay for his order at a McDonald’s restaurant in Wallaceburg on February 13.
An officer spotted the man riding a bicycle on Dufferin Avenue Friday night. It's alleged that the man resisted arrest and ran away following a "struggle". As a result of that struggle, an officer reported suffering minor injuries.
A 27-year-old man was arrested Tuesday morning in connection with the case and charged with assaulting a peace officer, escaping lawful custody, fraud under $5,000, and using counterfeit money.

A domestic disturbance has led to charges.
Police said they were notified about a disturbance over the weekend at a Chatham residence. Officers said this was not the first incident of domestic violence between the couple.
A 64-year-old Chatham man is now charged with assault and forcible confinement.

A 33-year-old woman is facing charges for allegedly stealing $30 worth of groceries from a Foodland in Ridgetown on January 28.
She was arrested early Wednesday morning and charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. A court date has been set for March 8.

Chatham-Kent police received some help from police in Hamilton in finding a wanted man.
Hamilton police handed over a 55-year-old man wanted for uttering threats.
He has been held in custody for a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent police are reminding residents that the deadline to apply for the Citizen’s Police Academy is fast approaching.
The program starts on March 6 and the deadline to apply is February 22.
