High school students from across Chatham-Kent are getting ready to take the stage at the Chatham Capitol Theatre.
The National Theatre School (NTS) Drama Festival begins Monday and runs until Wednesday, which six shows to be presented over the three days.
"All student-led, student chosen shows, and student directors, students producers, student actors," said Steve Mitchell from John McGregor Secondary School. "It's a great way to showcase arts in the city and we're really excited about it."
Festival co-coordinator Devin Pearson said it used to be known as the Sears Drama Festival.
"Current councillor Brock McGregor is an alumni of the festival, so we have lots of connections within Chatham-Kent," said Pearson. "People have graduated from the festival and gone on to professional theatre, and some that have stayed locally and continue to participate and support the festival."
The shows will begin at 6 p.m. each night. Monday will see shows from Blenheim District Secondary School, Lambton Kent Composite School, and John McGregor Secondary School. Tuesday will have Tilbury District High School, Wallaceburg District Secondary, and Ursuline College Chatham. The final night on Wednesday will have shows from Ridgetown District High School and Chatham-Kent Secondary School, followed by the awards ceremony.
