UPDATE: Wind knocks out power to dozens of customers in Chatham-Kent

The lights should be back on for the majority of Hydro One customers in Chatham-Kent who had their power knocked out by the windy weather.

Hydro One was reporting several outages near Wallaceburg, Kent Bridge, Rondeau, and Wheatley Monday morning. Most outages were expected to be resolved by Monday afternoon or early evening.

As of 5:50 p.m. Monday evening, the last remaining power outages appeared to be in the Wallaceburg, Walpole Island, and Wheatley areas. Approximately 1,269 customers in the area of Walpole Island, Port Lambton, and Wallaceburg were without power.

However, power was almost completely restored by around 6:20 p.m., with fewer than 20 customers still in the dark. Any customers who still are experiencing an outage are expected to have power by around 9:15 p.m.

The outages are much worse in parts of midwestern Ontario, though, where thousands of people are without power.
