SIU probing domestic incident in Leamington

Ontario's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating an incident in Leamington after a man was hurt during a police call.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Essex County said officers responded to a disturbance at a home on Orange Street in Leamington on Wednesday at around 9 p.m. and arrested a 25-year-old man.

The suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment of an injury, however, police have not disclosed the nature or seriousness of the injury.

Police said they notified the SIU and an investigation is underway to determine what happened.

"As a result, the OPP will not be able to provide any further information [because of the investigation]," said the OPP in a news release.

The SIU is a police oversight agency responsible for investigating circumstances involving police officers that have resulted in a death, serious injury, or allegations of sexual assault.
