A wet, windy start possible for March Break

March Break may be getting off to a soaking wet and windy beginning.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent. The weather agency is tracking a Colorado low moving toward the area, which may bring significant rainfall to the region this weekend.

Rain will likely begin Saturday night, with total amounts ranging from 15 to 25 millimetres before the rain tapers off later Sunday morning. Some pooling of water in low-lying areas and around clogged drains may occur.

In addition, strong southwesterly winds may pick up on Sunday and continue through much of the day. Gusts of up to 80 kilometres per hour are possible.
