CK Fire Department put out early morning blaze

Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services (CKFES) were busy Saturday morning putting out a barn fire in Tilbury.

The blaze happened on Hornick Line around 6 a.m. Four fire stations were called to help put out the flames.

According to CKFES, the owner was awake and noticed a glow coming from the barn. On arrival, crews found the hayloft heavily engulfed in fire.

The owner was able to remove all the animals from the barn before firefighters arrived. Fire crews remained at the scene for an "extended period of time" to ensure that a deep-seated fire in the attic was extinguished.

No injuries have been reported. The damage is estimated at around $225,000.
