Alleged bank robber in police custody

A 29-year-old man is facing charges in connection with a bank robbery in Dresden and a theft in Chatham.

Police said Dale Mason-Delaney has been linked to two recent investigations and was arrested last week.

Two framed The Tragically Hip records that were both up for auction as part of a fundraiser for the Children’s Miracle Network were reported stolen from the Food Basics in Chatham in February. Both records were eventually recovered and returned to the auction display.

Shortly after that incident, a man went into a CIBC bank in Dresden on February 26 and demanded cash. Police said a weapon was not used or seen during the encounter. The man took off with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police said Mason-Delaney is now charged with robbery, two counts of theft under $5,000, and being in possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Mason-Delaney will remain in police custody until his court date on March 21. The charges have yet to be proven in court.
