UPDATE: One person in critical condition after car collides with train

Chatham-Kent police have re-opened Keil Drive between Park Avenue and Richmond Street after a crash involving an SUV and a VIA Rail passenger train.

Police are still investigating the crash, which involved the train hitting a white SUV at around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

The force of the collision pushed the SUV hundreds of metres along the track.

In a media release, VIA Rail confirmed that nobody on the train was hurt.

Chatham-Kent EMS confirmed via Twitter that one patient was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
