PURE Dance Academy wins big at provincial dance competition

After a weekend filled with dance, one of Chatham-Kent's academy's walked away with some major recognition.

PURE Dance Academy was one of dozens of dance teams from across Ontario that participated in the Shine Dance Competition this weekend at the Chatham Capitol Theatre.

The local dance group, made up of around 150 dancers, received five awards for choreography and achieved high score in four different categories of dance styles.

PURE's hip-hop routine placed first overall in the entire competition, winning against over 800 other routines.

They were also able to walk away being named "Top Studio" in two competitive levels.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
