Teen arrested in connection with Chatham fire

An 18-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with arson after a fire broke out at a fourplex on Wellington Street East in Chatham.

Police said with the assistance of the Office of the Fire Marshal on Wednesday, officers were able to determine that the fire had been intentionally set.

As a result of their investigation, police arrested the tenant of the apartment where the fire originated and charged her with arson Wednesday afternoon. She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

No one was home at the time of the blaze Tuesday afternoon and no injuries were reported.
