Charges after church victimized by un-Christian act

The Ontario Provincial Police has charged a 40-year-old Leamington woman who appears to have forgotten the eighth of the Ten Commandments.

"Thou shall not steal."

Police said the suspect walked in around noon on Sunday, grabbed a collection plate with money in it, and ran away.

Members of the church on Fox Street in Leamington gave chase through an alleyway near the church, and it did not take officers long to catch up with her and put her under arrest.

She is expected to appear in a Leamington court on May 16 where she will face charges of theft under $5,000 and breach of probation.

Most of the money was recovered.

A Google search of the area reveals the only church on Fox Street in Leamington is First Baptist Church.
