OPP calls Leamington warehouse fire suspicious

Ontario Provincial Police are taking a closer look at a fire in Leamington over the weekend.

Fire crews were called shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday to a commercial structure fire on County Road 31 near Talbot Street West. The fire was mostly confined to a warehouse on the property but a residence also sustained damage. The blaze was under control within two hours. There were no injuries and a cat was rescued from the space.

Investigators from the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office have determined that the fire is suspicious in nature.

OPP officers and the Kingsville Fire Department assisted with the fire, but now the OPP Essex County Major Crimes Unit is investigating.

Anyone with information on this fire is asked to call the Essex County OPP at (519) 723-2491. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and may be eligible for a cash reward.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
