Suspect arrested after cutting through field

An early morning police chase just outside of Blenheim appears to have been cut short by a shortcut through a farmer's field.

Chatham-Kent police said they arrested a 34-year-old Blenheim man after he allegedly drove off the road and through a field on Harwich Road in an attempt to escape from an officer who was trying to pull over a vehicle on Allison Line at around 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers said the vehicle's tires were damaged from driving through the field, adding it was eventually stopped on Mull Road.

The driver was arrested and charged with flight from police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. He was later released with conditions and a future court date.
