Wallaceburg home to new Wendy's location

A popular burger franchise is setting up shop in Wallaceburg.

Stuart McFadden, director of economic development with the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, confirmed that construction work on the new Wendy's is expected to start soon at 58 McNaughton Ave.

"The planning application process and due diligence started months ago," said McFadden. "As I understand, they have just received all of their go-aheads."

At this point, McFadden said there's no word on an exact opening date yet or how many job opportunities this will create, however, it does mean good things for the community.

"I think it's great! It's a new investment... new jobs," he said. "They're a big company, they've done their homework and I'm sure they're going into this knowing the fact that they're going to be successful."

Wallaceburg Councillor Aaron Hall posted about the recent investment within the community on Twitter and Facebook, where it received mixed reviews. McFadden said based on what he has seen posted on social media, for the most part, people are happy about something new opening in Wallaceburg.
