UPDATE: Forecast of heavy rain and possible thunderstorms end

Environment Canada has ended a special weather statement for Windsor-Essex-Chatham-Kent, Oxford and Elgin County Saturday evening.

A severe thunderstorm warning was also issued and later canceled for Essex County Saturday afternoon.

The special weather statement predicted possible thunderstorms that could produce 25 to 50 mm of rain in the area.

A cold front is still expected to pass through parts of Southern Ontario into Saturday evening.

The prolonged heat will also be ending as the cold front moves in.

A flood watch predicting strong winds for Lake Erie shorelines on Sunday has been issued by the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority.

"Winds are forecasted to begin rising overnight and could exceed 30 km/hr in the morning, with wind gust up to 50 km/hr, LTVA said in a news release. "Waves could exceed 1 m in height.  Winds are forecasted to remain strong from the northeast in the afternoon, with some forecasts predicting strong winds to last into the evening.  The forecasts are also calling for northeast winds on Lake St. Clair, but they are not expected to be as strong."
