Vehicle hits deer just outside of Tilbury
If you saw some police activity on Merlin Road near Tilbury early Tuesday morning, this should clear that up.
Chatham-Kent police said officers were called to the scene of a crash on that road at around 6 a.m. Tuesday after a vehicle that was heading south hit a deer.
The deer was killed during the crash, but the driver of the vehicle wasn't hurt.
The damages are estimated at $3,000.

Alleged shoplifter arrested at Chatham grocery store
A 31-year-old Chatham man who allegedly attempted to get away with a five-finger discount at a local grocery store is facing charges now.
Police said the man walked into Sobeys on Park Avenue West on Monday, grabbed some items from the shelves and allegedly tried to leave the store without paying for them.
The store manager was able to detain him until police arrived.
He was then arrested and charged with one count of theft and two counts of possession of stolen property before he was released with conditions and a future court date.

Two arrests on outstanding warrants
Two men are spending some more time in police custody after they were arrested on outstanding warrants.
In the first case, police said a 52-year-old Blenheim man was arrested at around 9:40 a.m. Monday for breaching his probation. He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
In the second case, a 40-year-old Chatham man was arrested at around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday after allegedly violating his curfew last week.
