Heat warning for Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent

The scorching hot summer weather in Windsor, Essex County and Chatham-Kent continues for another week.

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for these areas starting Monday and continuing until next weekend.

The agency states that the daytime temperatures are expected to hit the low to mid-thirties, with humidex values reaching the low to mid-forties. Overnight temperatures are also expected to hit the low to mid-twenties.

“The risks [from the heat] are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors,” Environment Canada noted in its advisory.

Wednesday is expected to offer some relief as temperatures will likely not reach heat warning levels. A cooler air mass may arrive by next Sunday.
