UPDATE: Police release more info about serious Tilbury-area crash

A 27-year-old Stoney Point man is fighting for his life in hospital following a single-vehicle crash north of Tilbury.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said on Tuesday at around 10 p.m., emergency crews were called to Tecumseh Line near Dashwheel Road after the vehicle left the road and crashed into a large sign.

The driver, who was the only person inside the vehicle at the time, had to be extricated by emergency personnel. He was rushed to a local hospital with serious life-threatening injuries and then airlifted to Victoria Hospital in London.

Tecumseh Line was closed between Dashwheel Road and Roels Line and was expected to remain closed until around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. The Chatham-Kent police Traffic Unit has responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.
