No injuries reported in Chatham garage fire

Damage is pegged around $150,000 following a garage fire on Delaware Avenue in Chatham.

Fire crews were called to 294 Delaware Ave. around 6:40 p.m. on Monday. Officials with the fire department said flames and black smoke could be seen from outside as the fire, which originated in the garage, started to spread to the rest of the house.

Firefighters were quick to extinguish the blaze. Luckily, everyone made it out of the house and no injuries were reported.

A cause for the fire has not been determined.

Residents are being reminded that Chatham-Kent Fire and Emergency Services does offer free CHiRP home safety checks, where firefighters will check that alarms are in working condition.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
