Pair charged with robbery using starter pistol

Two men are facing a handful of charges after a robbery in Ridgetown Monday night.

According to police, it happened around 9:30 p.m. when two men attended the apartment of a woman they knew in Ridgetown. While inside, they stole prescription medication. As the woman tried to stop them, they pointed a starting pistol at her as they fled the scene.

Officers were able to identify two suspects and arrested them in Shrewsbury at around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

As a result, a 23-year-old Shrewsbury man has been charged with robbery and possession of a dangerous weapon while a 23-year-old Blenheim man has been charged with robbery and being in possession of brass knuckles, which is a prohibited weapon.

Both were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
